Vitro Architectural Glass (formerly PPG Glass) announced that it will introduce Acuity® low-iron glass in September and that customers can pre-order sample kits for the product at www.vitroglazings.com/acuity beginning immediately. The glass will be produced with the full range of Solarban® high-performing low-e glass coatings to optimize energy savings.
Glenn T. Miner, director of construction, Vitro Architectural Glass, said Acuity® glass is engineered as an affordable complement to Starphire Ultra-Clear glass in the Vitro Glass family of low-iron glasses.
“Architects, designers and building owners want highly transparent, neutral glazings that can deliver crisper outdoor views or render color from spandrel units with greater fidelity than regular clear glass can,” he explained. “Acuity® glass eliminates the green cast inherent to conventional clear glass to create a more brilliant aesthetic without compromising project budgets or energy performance.”
Acuity® glass can be ordered through members of the Vitro Certified™ Network with Solarban® 60, Solarban® 67, Solarban ® 72, Solarban® 90 and Solarban® R100 solar control low-e coatings. Acuity glass is also available in 6-millimeter thickness for monolithic spandrel glass applications where true-color rendition is necessary, or to be paired with a low-e coated lite in an insulating glass unit (IGU).
Standard production sizes for coated and uncoated Acuity® glass are 96-by-130, 100-by-144 and 130-by-204 inches.
