Saint-Gobain introduces COOL-LITE SKN 176 II 4mm for commercial/domestic market

Date: 5 May 2015

Saint-Gobain is continuing to evolve its industry-leading 70-37 combination SGG COOL-LITE SKN 176 II with the addition of a 4mm option within the product range; primarily designed for the commercial and high-end domestic markets.

Like its 6mm counterpart, SGG COOL-LITE SKN 176 II 4mm outperforms any other Saint-Gobain double silver coated glass available, combining a 70% light transmittance and 0.37 G-Value – i.e. blocking out 63% of solar heat the product provides an exceptional 1.89 solar selectivity – and a thermal insulation performance of 1.0W/m2K.Adrian Adams, Saint-Gobain’s Market Manager, Better Working, said: “Such specification allows more natural light to enter a building while reducing both solar gain and heat loss. This not only improves well-being through a more pleasant working or living environment but also reduces energy expenditure on heating and air conditioning, in keeping with the BREEAM principles for sustainable building design. This will give greater design flexibility to create bright, airy living and working environments in applications where solar gain may be a critical factor.”

SGG COOL-LITE SKN 176 II 4mm is suitable for applications where toughened or heat-strengthened glass is required, enabling its use in a wide range of applications such as curtain walling, exterior structural sealant glazing, bolted glass assemblies, external wall cladding, double-skin applications and overhead and atrium glazing. The 4mm product extension provides the opportunity of applying the high performance characteristics of SGG COOL-LITE SKN 176 II in a large number of both commercial and high-end domestic applications.
