GCI Consultants, LLC was retained to evaluate the hurricane resistance of the laminated glass windows at the Cayman National Bank in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.

Services:  GCI worked with the owner, architect, contractor and glazier and reviewed the glazing shop drawings and laboratory test data for the installed system. Several site inspections were also conducted were also conducted during construction to evaluate the quality of the installation.

Based upon our review and site inspections, we recommended a slight modification to the glazing detail which strengthened the system and made it more hurricane resistant. The overall quality of construction was excellent and the glass system is appropriate for the hurricane environment.

Results:  Upon completion, we issued a report to the owner with our evaluation of the project. It recognized the high quality of the system and installation and certified that GCI’s recommendations had been successfully implemented.
