Well, that is precisely how the glittering glass facade of the BMW Welt (German for BMW World) has ensured it to be.
Built to be a ‘multi-functional customer experience and exhibition facility’ of the BMW AG, the BMW Welt is designed to present the current products of BMW, be a distribution center for BMW cars, offer an event forum, besides being a conference center. Standing out magnificently with glazing solutions from Saint-Gobain Glass, this elegant epitome of sustainable architecture is located in Munich, Germany, in close proximity to the BMW Headquarters and the Olympia park.
The resplendent piece of architectural design has consumed not less than a whopping 12400 sqm of glass! The SGG CLIMAPLUS SOLAR CONTROL on SGG DIAMANT has been used for the double glazing across the building. The glass is known to have extra clear properties, valued both for its attractive appearance as well as its optical qualities. The facade design also uses advanced solar control glass and several energy-efficient glasses from SGG. The glazing solution combines the elements of transparency while preventing excessive heat into the building. The facility even has an 800 kilowatt solar plant on its roof.

The BMW Welt has been designed by architects Coop Himmelb(l)au for the BMW Group. Although it was conceived to be ready in time for the World Cup 2006, it was opened to the world a year later in October and deliveries commenced soon after. Often housing exhibitions of BMW models, the facility puts on display, a wide range of BMW cars and motorcycles. It even ensures a special experience when it comes to customers taking delivery of their ordered vehicle. The premises also comprise shops with BMW auxiliary products and a fully serviced gastronomic restaurant. Conference rooms and the arena to stage media events add to the facilities that the commercial building offers.
The potent combination of Saint-Gobain Glass and BMW represents a classic case of one style icon meeting another! In the era of sustainable buildings, here glass meets class to create a mesmerizing effect. Together, they truly present an iconic structure to the world, one that will remain in the limelight for years to come…
