It is with great sadness and much sorrow we announce the passing of Richard Stanley Wolk. Rick passed away suddenly Saturday morning, October 14th 2017. This tragic news has struck the hearts of all our family, friends and employees at Rochester Insulated Glass.

Rick was President of RIG at the time of his death, and was the backbone of the company he loved so much. Rick will continue to be missed by a everyone here at RIG.

Rick has spent the majority of his life working in the glass industry, starting at RIG when he was only 16 years old. He has been working for RIG since its inception and continually through out his 45 year career. Rick’s dedication and commitment is evident by the company he helped build. Rick’s late father, Stanley Wolk founded Rochester Insulated Glass in 1972.

The vision was to bring a different market approach to the glass world, but by offering not only standard size glass, but to also produce the largest piece of glass in the world. RIG started out as a small family business, but was grown into a leader in the architectural glass industry.

Amongst some of the major projects around the world that he has touched include the Calgary International Airport, Howard Hughes Medical Center, high end retail establishments around the world and numerous Air Traffic control towers.

Rick’s passing was sudden, but Tyler Wolk his son, will continue to run the business and has stepped into the leadership position of the company. Tyler will continue to maintain the vision set forth by his father and late grandfather Stanley Wolk. Tyler has been working side by side with his father for more than 15 years and is proud to carry on the legacy of his family.

The Wolk family will be holding a celebration of life for Rick Thursday, October 19th, at Young Lion Brewing Company from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting donations to be made to Christ Clarion Community School in memory of Richard Wolk, ℅ Lisa Wrona 415 Thornell Road Pittsford, NY 14534.
