Laminated safety glass has been well accepted throughout the world for its multifunctional benefits as a glazing material for buildings and especially for its post breakage integrity. In the last twenty years understanding of the true strength of laminated glass has enabled the application of structural laminated glass interlayers to reduce the weight of building facades and to provide enhanced security against man made and natural disasters. This presentation reviews the glazing solutions for buildings provided by laminated glass together with recent innovations in interlayer technology.
