In 2011, CHICHÉ Architectes SA won the 1st prize for the renovation project of the Vallée de la Jeunesse school and sports complex. In 2019 the 2nd stage of the works was completed. Respecting the original construction concept based on the CROCS system developed in 1970, the new energy-efficient facade could be installed without interrupting the building's operation.
𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀!
Indeed, it reproduces the sound of rushing water and thus remind us of the river Flon which was buried under a filling during EXPO '64 in Lausanne. The architects, accompanied by the artist Rudy Decelière, developed a sound and visual system integrated into the laminated glass panels SWISSLAMEX COLORDESIGN Type Y (with black interlayer) in form of sound diffusers called "piezos". The different sizes of points represent a stylised wave. The implementation of these panels composing the 690 m² facade for this innovative project was possible thanks to the competence, know-how and availability of Glas Trösch.
