On the occasion of the company's 100th anniversary, new headquarters were built in Laufen, designed by Basel-based architectural firm Flubacher Nyfeler Partner. The company’s holistic approach was also applied here: In addition to the use of sustainable and resource-saving construction methods, the design of the interior spaces and resulting effect on the employees also played a key role. Our glass helps to create an office that is bathed in light.
Up to 10 percent of people suffer from what is known as sick building syndrome. A range of factors such as volatile dyes, insufficient light or poor acoustics in the office can result in eye, nose or respiratory irritation as well as headaches and problems with concentration. As such, EGK felt that it was vital to consider the employees’ situation right from the outset. The intention is to remedy these issues by implementing an open-plan spatial concept using glass from Glas Trösch.
The COLORPRINT FP laminated safety glass with foil print also conveys one of EGK’s primary focuses: barrier-free access to complementary medical therapies. The interior glazing is adorned with the pattern of five medicinal plants. With the help of a digital X-ray process used in the field of mammography, an artistic herbarium was created featuring celandine, diptam, sage, shepherd's purse and speedwell, which now decorates the glass surfaces in EGK’s office spaces.
I would definitely invest on this one! We tried glass roof projects before, maybe next we will consider this printed ones.
