New front-set options provide the YES 45 TU system greater flexibility in applications and improved thermal performanceAUSTELL, Ga.

September 14, 2012 — YKK AP America, the leader in manufacturing high quality architectural products, introduces an expansion to its most popular storefront product, YES 45 TU.New options allow the YES 45 TU storefront system to handle front-set glass applications in addition to its existing center-set capabilities. This expansion not only allows for greater applications of the product where front-set is required, but it also improves the thermal performance of the system, providing greater resistance to heat transfer, lower U-factors, and increased resistance to condensation.

Ideal for retail and office buildings, the glass within the YES 45 TU system can now be set to the front to maximize energy performance and blend with the aesthetics of the curtain wall. Architects and designers can glaze the system from either the interior or the exterior as required, making it a flexible option.

YES 45 TU has hinged mullions coupled with 90° or 135° inside and outside corners, allowing creative freedom when curves and angles are part of the design. The system is thermally broken by means of a poured and debridged pocket that employs a patented process, ThermaBond Plus®. Combining science and technology, ThermaBond Plus provides a composite shape of materials for reduced heat flow through the framing.

“The addition of YES 45 TU to our line of storefront products provides architects and designers with the perfect mix of performance and aesthetics for sustainable design, while also improving a building’s energy performance,” said Mike Turner, Vice President of Marketing at YKK AP America. “In addition, YES 45 TU meets updated requirements for energy performance, providing an added benefit to owners.”

YES 45 TU has also been tested to meet the requirements of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) with standard Low-e insulating glass. By integrating high performance glass, greater thermal performance can be achieved, exceeding the base codes.
