The World’s Longest and Highest Glass Bridge is Opening Soon

Date: 9 June 2016

Can you imagine walking out onto a bridge and seeing straight through to the bottom of a canyon located almost 1,000 feet below?

Both terrifying and mesmerizing to consider, this experience will soon be a possibility for individuals visiting the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in the Huanan Province of China.

Already titled the world’s longest and highest glass bridge, this glass-bottomed bridge was developed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan and has officially been announced as complete.

The extraordinary architectural creation was built above the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon and will soon be transporting visitors across for a more than breathtaking view.

1,400 feet long and about 20 feet wide, the record-breaking bridge will be able to hold up to 800 spectators at a time. And for the most adventurous adrenaline seekers, it will also offer the world’s highest bungee jumping experience.

A date has yet to be set for the public opening, but South China Morning Post expects it to occur sometime this July.

Just the thought of viewing the canyon’s luscious greenery from this new and entirely unique vantage point has us wanting to book our plane tickets to China! But until then, we will continue working on our own glass creations right here in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.

Experienced in making architectural, laminated and specialty bent glass projects, Bent Glass Design can create almost anything you can imagine. Check out our online gallery for some inspiration and give us a call at 215-441-9101 to get started on your curved glass project.
