The structure provides opportunities for increased operational efficiency.

PGT Innovations, a national leader in the premium window and door category, has completed construction on and begun utilizing its new building that connects two of the company’s existing glass processing plants located at its North Venice headquarters.

The new structure creates a large continuous space for the company’s glass processing operations, which allows for easier and more efficient glass storage and transportation.

On Jan. 29, 2019, PGT Innovations held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the 28,000-square-foot connector building. Built by J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp., a Venice-based commercial construction company, the new building enhances safety, quality, and productivity as glass moves through the processing stations that are used to produce impact-resistant and energy-efficient glass for PGT® Custom Windows and Doors brand products.

The structure acts as a climate-controlled link between the company’s insulating-glass production building and the main glass plant, where glass is cut, tempered, and laminated. More than 300 PGT Innovations employees work within the glass operations building.

“This new building provides us with a more stable, consistent manufacturing environment and will further improve our ability to fulfill our promise of on-time delivery to our customers,” said Jeff Jackson, CEO and President of PGT Innovations. “Our team tackled this construction project while maintaining regular production during 2018, a year in which the company achieved massive growth. We are excited to unveil the completed space, which will support our company’s continued growth and ability to satisfy the high demand we are seeing for our products.”

The project added a 1,200-square-foot compressor room and a 28,000-square-foot production area to the PGT Innovations’ Venice campus. Designed by Hall Architects, the building’s front elevation showcases a unique configuration of storefront window products from CGI Commercial, a sister brand to the PGT® Custom Windows and Doors brand both held under the PGT Innovations parent company.

“In 2017, our team was tasked to identify any part of our glass manufacturing process that could be improved and design a solution,” said Bob Keller, President of PGT Innovations’ Southeast Region. “I know that this addition to our glass operations will help PGT Innovations continue to grow and better serve our customers. I’m very proud of the way our various internal departments and external partners worked together as one team on this project to bring it to reality.”
