Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center is a 210.000 m2 big complex, including National Library of Greece and Greek National Opera. The €556 million project was completed this year, and it will be donated to the Greek state in 2017.
Renzo Piano envisaged the SNFCC rising out of the ground like a dislodged piece of the earth’s crust. As a result, an artificial hill is constructed and the roof of both the library and the opera house is emerging from it maintaining the slope.
Large façade glass sheets supported by heavy-load glass fins produced by Formator, dominate this amazing project.
