The FGS Campus in Bonn is the headquarters of law firm Flick Gocke Schaumburg. The aim of the building’s design was to create freedom for innovation and flexibility, while also promoting exchange between employees.
The four ‘campus buildings’ are grouped around a generous atrium that holds all the functions together. Meeting rooms, exhibition areas, library, fitness centre, day care centre and café are located on the ground floor and internal work areas are located on the upper floors.
The courtyard of the building complex is roofed over with a daylighting system. This imposing Lamilux glass roof construction covers an area of 1,700 square metres. At a height of 22 metres, a superstructure with girders of up to 40 metres in length had to be installed.
Guardian SunGuard HD Diamond 66 coated solar control glass was selected for the double skin glass façade. This highly durable coating allowed the glass to be used monolithically (when applied on the inside surface) providing all the optical clarity and energy performance traditionally associated with sputtered coatings.
