The innovative Factory 2050, Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre at the University of Sheffield, has been named as finalist in the prestigious G16 Awards.

Such a complex and high profile glazing project was awarded to a consortium of three companies: Float Glass Industries, leading glass suppliers to the curtain walling, window and glazing industry, Lakesmere and Saint Gobain.

Together, the three companies developed a performance specification for the building that would meet and exceed all the requirements.

Everseal IG Warm Edge Insulating Glass was supplied by Float Glass Industries with a glass specification of 6mm Coolite SKN 165 and 10mm Coolite SKN 154 by Saint Gobain.

The fast track building programme meant there was no room for error or delay in the delivery, but as you would expect from a contractor used to working on complex, high profile projects, Float Glass Industries was able to deliver.

The result is a stunning building whose impressive exterior matches the technological innovation inside.
