Torsten Keemss, General Manager, Edgetech Europe GmbH: "We have even exceeded the high goals we set ourselves.Today, we can already predict that, by the end of the year, Edgetech Europe will have grown by more than 50 percent compared with the previous year. This growth is mainly the result of the outstanding material properties of the Super Spacer® and TriSeal(tm) ranges that have attained the best measuring results and certifications in the world."
Tests conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute of Building Physics a few months ago demonstrated just how outstanding the heat transfer coefficients of Super Spacer® and TriSealTM really are. Super Spacer® Premium backed with 5 mm hot melt butyl, for example, reached a value of 0.029 W/mK in a wooden window frame and TriSealTM with 4 mm PU recorded a value of 0.030 W/mK.
The versatility of the thermal properties of the Super Spacer® range is demonstrated by the fact that three complete production lines for Edgetech were recently sold to countries whose climatic conditions could hardly be more different. Lisec sold a Super Spacer® production line to NorDan, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of insulating glass that is headquartered in Norway. NorDan has production capacities of up to 1500 windows and doors per day and supplies products to the value of Euro 75 million throughout Northern and Eastern Europe.
From the end of the year, insulating glass windows with Edgetech's Super Spacer® will also be manufactured in the Middle East: Lisec is also supplying a production line to Emirates Glass in Dubai. Last but not least, in December 2005, a third Lisec line will go out to Izos, a well-known manufacturer of insulating glass in the Czech Republic with branches near Prague.
Another milestone in Edgetech's success story is without doubt the fact that, in addition to Lisec, For.El. and Lenhardt Maschinenbau GmbH, which is part of the Bystronic Group, are now also offering fully-automated applicators for Super Spacer®.
Torsten Keemss: "For us, Vitrum has been a complete success and Edgetech was also a crowd puller par excellence at GlassBuild in September in Atlanta. Once again, we have shown that our expansion into Europe was the right move at the right time. In just a few years, we've achieved something that, at the turn of the millennium, seemed an impossibility: Edgetech has become a global brand - and our potential for growth on the European market is still far from exhausted."
