Wausau’s SuperWall finished in any color including new, eco-friendly anodize; shipped in three weeks

Date: 3 February 2009

With a palette exceeding 30,000 color choices finishes, Wausau Window and Wall Systems offers three-week shipping on its standard SuperWall systems to meet the accelerated pace of construction timelines for low- and mid-rise buildings.

These curtainwall and window wall systems are available in 6.25- or 8.25-inch depths, as captured or silicone structure glazed systems. Finished to match nearly any design, Wausau provides a wide palette of painted finishes or new, eco-friendly, anodize in a "frosty" matte finish.

"Contractors and designers have counted on Wausau’s easy-to-fabricate SuperWall systems for smooth, quick installation and worry-free, test-verified performance. Now, they need it faster than ever and want it to match whatever color scheme the designer and owner can imagine. In just three weeks from order recipient, we can ship a complete, finished SuperWall system," says Doug Holmberg, general manager for Advantage by Wausau’s competitively priced, standard products.

In addition, Holmberg notes that 6250 or 8250 Series SuperWall systems also contribute to energy-efficient, green building designs, achieving U-Factors as low as 0.44 BTU/hr-sqft-˚F with Frame Condensation Resistance Factor (CRF) 67 to 78. Coupled with the recognized benefits of daylight and outside views, these features may aid buildings seeking certification under such programs as the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Green Building Rating System™.

For less time-sensitive projects with enhanced environmentally sound design needs, these aluminum systems may be specified with recycled content and can be finished with liquid paints composed of up to 100% post-industrial waste, and anodize finishes specified as VOC-free coatings. Choosing the eco-friendly anodize creates an aesthetically appealing, matte finish that helps hide small defects, such as die lines, flow lines, minor corrosion and scratches, that may occur on the aluminum surface of both primary and secondary (recycled) billet. The process byproducts from the bath are recyclable. The new anodize process also reduces waste and energy used with traditional etch processes. Furthermore, the eco-friendly anodize has the viscosity of water and will not collect in the small recesses of aluminum extrusions or narrow aluminum tubes, enhancing the durability and lifecycle of the finished product.

Supporting the proven performance of SuperWall systems and helping ensure prompt approval of shop drawings and calculations, Wausau’s design and submission engineering tools include AutoCAD® details, test reports, wind load charts, guide specifications, thermal models, and other instructive recommendations.
