The demand for glass tempering furnaces has been clearly over the company’s predictions. The first machines have already been delivered from the plant, which was having its opening ceremony in the beginning of September.
- Strengthening the market position in South America is a significant part of Tamglass global growth strategy. Tamglass South America Ltda. focuses on manufacturing and selling flat tempering lines and bending furnaces particularly for the needs of architectural glass manufacturers in Brazil. The company will also be in charge of the installation and service of Tamglass products in the entire Mercosur area, comments the managing director of the company Mr Jean-Paul Clment.
The good development is due to the fact that Brazil is a huge country with around 160 million inhabitants living in many big and medium sized cities, where the tempered glass market for the buildings is mainly local business. Many small and medium sized glaziers are investing in tempering furnaces of their own in order to maintain independence.
In the Brazilian building industry the demand for the new glass products launched in the past years is growing rapidly. Automotive glass industry is also experiencing a good growth. Brazilian Standard Organization ABNT has been working on safety glass standardization for buildings, furniture and other applications. Safety glass is these days already required in Brazil in many applications.
The typical Tamglass South America customer is a small or medium size glazier, which wants to temper its own glass for the local market. The customers are for example small glaziers beginning the tempering business, medium glaziers already having a vertical tempering furnace and purchasing new capacity or specialized industry manufacturing furniture glass or bullet proof car glazing products.
