The use of Senior Architectural Systems’ new SF52 curtain walling system has helped to provide the perfect retail experience at the ambitious new Flemingate shopping centre complex in Beverley, Yorkshire.

Installed by leading fabricator Dortech Ltd for main contractor Wilmott Dixon, over 2500m2 of Senior’s SF52 curtain wall has been specified to create the large retail displays of the shopping centre’s numerous new outlets.  Maximising the flexibility of SF52, Dortech has created the shop frontages by installing both capped and capless systems.

The exceptionally slim 52mm sightlines of the SF52 system helped to achieve an attractive uniform appearance and made it the ideal choice for use on the development which has been sympathetically designed to complement and reflect the style of Beverley’s historic town centre.

Developed by the Wykeland Group, the scheme is the biggest regeneration project of its type in the East Riding of Yorkshire and in addition to its retail spaces, includes a hotel and cinema complex.Covering an area of 11-acres, Flemingate site itself boasts a rich heritage from its previous uses as a tannery, chemical works and museum.

Designed by architects Harris Partnership street frontages have been broken down, with each bay boasting double-height glazed facades created by Senior’s SF52 curtain walling.

As well as meeting the aesthetic requirements, Senior’s latest product innovation also boasts an enhanced thermal performance to help provide a cost-effective and comfortable environment for customers.

Now firmly established as Senior’s most popular curtain wall solution, the SF52 system is available as a mullion drained system which removes the need for visible drainage slots and can also be specified as capped, silicone sealed or as a combination of the two for even greater design flexibility.
