Residents of the new Hampton by Hilton hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne can enjoy spectacular views across the city thanks to windows supplied by leading fenestration designer and manufacturer Senior Architectural Systems.

Installed by Visual Concept Ltd, Senior’s SPW 300 windows were specified for use on the new hotel, which has been created following the complete refurbishment and conversion of an existing 1970s office block known as Baron House. With all existing windows needing to be replaced, the SPW300 aluminium system offered the desired high level of thermal performance and attractive slim sightlines.

To offer even great energy-efficiency and provide a more comfortable environment for the guests of the hotel, the SPW300 windows incorporate solar glass, which helps to minimise the absorption of heat and glare from the sun. As the hotel is located in the heart of Newcastle city centre and overlooks the railway station, it was also vital that the new window system could offer exceptional sound-proofing and this has been achieved through the use of high quality acoustic glass.

Paul Price, director at Visual Concept Ltd commented: “As a local company, we are proud to have been involved in the creation of the new Hampton by Hilton in Newcastle. It was a challenging contract, with various technical and environmental targets that had to be met and we are extremely happy with how Senior’s products performed on this job.”

The design flexibility of Senior’s SPW300 also made the system the ideal choice for such a high-profile local refurbishment project. With all spandrel glazing specified in special pearl RAL 1035 and the complementary special gold RAL 1036 colour chosen for the window frames, the building’s new fenestration has been further enhanced by the use of Senior’s thermally efficient SCW+ curtain walling to the ground floor level. With 160 rooms, the luxury hotel is the first under the Hampton by Hilton brand to be established in Newcastle and was designed by architects Studio Stuart Palmer Ltd.
