Romania has inaugurated a float glass factory in Calarasi following a 100 million EUR investment implemented over 18 months.

On January 12th, 2006, the company commissioned a glassware warehouse measuring 22,800 square meters. The factory has a production capacity of over 200,000 tons/year (600 tons of float glass / day).



The float glass manufactured in Calarasi will be 2.1 - 12 mm thick and be sold especially to the construction industry. Half of the output will be sold domestically, covering approximately half of the domestic demand, whereas the other half will be marketed in SEE, Poland and Germany. The opening of the factory in Calarasi crated 215 direct and some 1000 indirect jobs.
