PPG is gradually localizing its production of aerospace materials in China and other countries in the Asia/Pacific region,” said Paul Bowman, PPG Aerospace general manager, Asia/Pacific. “We believe this will enable us to provide better service and technical support to the fast-growing OEM and aircraft maintenance industry in this region.”
At the expo, PPG will feature DESOTHANE(R) HS exterior coating systems for civil aircraft. These multilayer coating systems meet the requirements of major aircraft manufacturers. They help to maximize coatings adhesion, are easy to apply, and have high solids content and low volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
PPG also will display framed cockpit window assemblies and other transparency products that are applicable to a wide range of major aircraft programs. Additionally, PPG will promote its growing aftermarket support services for windshields in the Asia/Pacific region, which have been established to provide aircraft operators and maintenance organizations in the region with PPG’s “one-stop” transparency overhaul and repair services.
In addition, PPG will display its PRC(TM) and PROSEAL(TM) high-performance aerospace sealants. These fuel tank, fuselage and specialty materials are specified and used on all major OEM aircraft. In particular, PPG will highlight its latest generation III lightweight technology, PR-2007, a 1.1 density, rapid cure sealant. PPG also will feature its Customized Sealant Solutions (CSS), including seal caps and FIP strip.
During the show, PPG has also obtained approval for nine aerospace coatings products and one cleaner product by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
PPG established an Application Support Center in Suzhou in 2002 to better serve the rapidly growing aerospace industry in the Asia/Pacific region. With market demand in the region continuing to grow, PPG opened another regional Application Support Center in Tianjin in 2010.
Bowman said that the PPG Aerospace products featured offer excellent performance and “green” characteristics such as low-VOC and chromate-free coatings formulations, and they are lightweight, supporting the expo’s theme of “Safety, Low-cost, Eco-friendliness.” He said, “PPG is dedicated to providing leading-edge technologies and the best products to our customers to help them achieve greater success and meet various challenges.”
