VertiKal™ Panels Part of $200 Million Expansion Project at Company Headquarters of GPS Giant.

It’s 1,479 miles from the Kalwall headquarters in Manchester to the corporate headquarters of Garmin Ltd. in Olathe, Kansas. But there was no need for one of Garmin’s world renowned GPS units to connect the two.

Kalwall’s global reputation took care of that.

The industry leader in diffuse natural daylighting solutions was picked for another high-profile project when McCownGordon Construction and Gould Evans architects selected Kalwall’s VertiKal panels as a featured part of the $200 million expansion of the Garmin corporate headquarters. The panels are part of a massive expansion to the company’s warehouse and manufacturing facility.

“The ability to add natural diffuse daylighting in the workplace is a recognized factor in increased productivity,” says Tom Hon, the Regional Manager for Kalwall who worked on the project. “Kalwall panels address that, as well as being energy efficient. Another key factor is the look of the VertiKal. The design aspect was important.”

The project is expected to take two years to complete and will add 720,000 square feet to the 96-acre campus, allowing the company to almost double its workforce of 2,800 people currently at the facility.

Garmin is one of the biggest employers in the state of Kansas and is known for an employee-friendly culture. The expanded corporate headquarters, for instance, will feature athletic fields and a two-mile walking trail.
