Pilkington says North American demand weakens

British-based glass maker Pilkington Plc said that demand in its key north American building products unit had weakened, while sales had also fallen in the region for its automotive unit.

Pilkington, which supplies glass to the building and automotive industries, said trading during the first five months of the year had been in line with its own expectations.It added it was too early to predict the impact of this month's attacks in the United States on its business.North America counts for about 45 percent of Pilkington's sales.
