Solar panels are becoming more and more popular for use in designing façades. The specially designed modules can be used as building elements in the same way as glass, stone, plaster, etc. These modules are also extremely well-suited for canopies and shading solutions.
MAGE SUNOVATION has equipped the façade of an industrial production company with 112 SUNOVATION eFORM façade panels in Flörsheim near Frankfurt, Germany. These glass-glass modules measuring 1,200 x 1,200 mm were specially designed for the project and were attached to the façade of an industrial hall at an angle of 90. The modules feature a frosted rear glass and a transparent front glass pane, backlit from behind by LEDs. 49 crystalline 5-inch solar cells are embedded between the glass panes on a surface area of 1.44 m² in a permanently elastic manner using a special production technique. This façade system has a total capacity of 13.5 kWp.
The visual effect of the photovoltaic cells by day is impressive on the façade as it reflects the use of renewable energy. Yet, the integrated LED illumination by night is the highlight of these solar modules. The façade can be brightly illuminated by night, creating an amazing effect at a distance. When equipped with RGB LEDs, the panels can be illuminated in various colors, for example, to reflect the corporate color scheme or put the spotlight on a special event.
This interesting ability adds special character when designing the façades of high-status buildings. Even existing buildings can be enhanced by this product and receive a more contemporary, modern look easily.
