The company is again backing Fire Door Safety Week with their range of products for the fire protection market for sealants and tapes including Firestrip 30.
This intumescent strip sealant is also covered under the British Woodworking Federation BWF Certifire Scheme Certificate No. CF297 for use in timber screens and doors for periods of 30 minutes fire resistance and Hodgson Sealants has carried this important certification since 2002.
Firestrip 30 has a 12-month shelf life and is quick, clean and easy to apply and the excellent high tack surface provides good adhesion. Product testing is paramount at Hodgson Sealants and so this product has been tested with a wide variety of non-insulating and insulating glass types and can be overcoated with paints and decorative wood stains.
With fire door testing still very high on the agenda for the construction industry, the latest information from the Fire Door Alliance makes for good reading and reports that ‘All timber fire doors which underwent fire-resistance testing by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) were found to have met required standards, exceeding the minimum 30-minute burn time requirement, with one door resisting flames for as long as 59 minutes when opening away from the furnace.’
Marc Rampling, applications manager of Hodgson Sealants commented: ‘As a UK sealant manufacturer and given the catastrophic events at Grenfell, we have re-tested our Firestrip 30 intumescent strip sealant, with an incredible 46-minute performance. This is re-assuring for our customers and fully supports the latest news from the Fire Door Alliance.’
