Market-leading glass manufacturer, Glassolutions, has provided sealed unit solutions for a Coventry glazing firm’s flagship product range, helping it to deliver windows which combine a traditional appearance with cutting-edge functionality.

Coventry-based Aztec Windows approached Glassolutions to manufacture sealed units to be used in their new Prestige Collection. This range of flush casement windows creates a fusion of the past and the present, combining the aesthetics of traditional timber casements with the security and energy efficiency of modern uPVC windows. Being mechanically jointed, rather than welded, this window range forms the basis of Aztec Windows’ premium product offering for domestic glazing and heritage projects

As a unique product at the apex of its market, Aztec Windows saw no room for compromise on quality in developing the Prestige Collection with supply chain partners Veka and Glassolutions. The company was keen to source a sealed unit manufacturer who could guarantee a superior quality product with excellent thermal efficiency, as well as a ten-year warranty.

With its Planitherm Total+ range of sealed units, Glassolutions was able to fulfil Aztec Windows’ brief. As the energy-efficient glazing solutions of choice for window makers across the UK thanks to its U-value of 1.4 W/m2K, the low-E coating of Planitherm Total+ optimises the balance between maximum light transmission and a comfortable internal temperature. In addition to being highly durable, this glass product is also superb in terms of its neutrality and clarity.

Michael Hagan, Aztec Windows’ Director, said: “We’re very pleased with our decision to have Glassolutions as one of our supply partners. Maintaining a building’s aesthetic while ensuring it conforms to the highest thermal performance standards can be a tricky part of any glazing project – but discerning homeowners have come to expect high standards on both fronts. The use of Planitherm Total+ in the Prestige Collection is the ideal solution. Overall we have a powerful differentiator here - installers love Prestige because it is glazed on-site in the usual way, unlike other solutions which are glass bonded in the factory and can cause big problems on-site should breakages or damage occur.”

Designed by Aztec Windows themselves in collaboration with Veka, and featuring Glassolutions’ market-leading Planitherm glass, the Prestige Collection provides a solution to consumer demand for a casement window which better replicates traditional timber frames, but brings modern standards of energy efficiency, security, and thermal performance. With a fully mechanically-jointed framework for strength and a flawless finish, available in foiled wood-grain finishes in a selection of shades, Prestige flush casement windows are ideal for both architecturally sensitive domestic refurbishments and the conservation market.
