Bystronic Glass UK will soon commence installation on one of the industry’s most progressive installations. A new fully automatic TPS® line is due to be installed at Float Glass Industries which will be one of the most technically advanced warm edge production lines in the UK and Europe.

As part of a multimillion pound development programme at Float Glass Industries, approximately £1.2 has been dedicated to the Bystronic machinery. The revolutionary TPS® system is the largest installation of its kind in the country and will provide total solutions for warm edge insulating glass manufacturing at the company.

Primarily, investment in warm edge technology has been instigated to further diversify the product range at Float Glass Industries, with emphasis being placed on the commercial sector. This will broaden the product portfolio and will also assist Float Glass customers to diversify their own products.

Warm Edge Systems from a number of other suppliers were evaluated by members of the Board of FGI including Chairman Roy Offland, Operations Director Mike Thompson and Joint Managing Director David Offland. TPS is the logical choice for Float Glass Industries as it was considered the best available technology on the market in relation to architectural possibilities and the superiority of the ‘Warm Edge’ expertise.

With such a major investment, consistent production standards were an essential part of the decision process. The TPS® line was considered superior due to a number of factors including product quality, gas retention, productivity, reliability and advanced manufacturing procedures.

At 2.7 m high, the new Bystronic line will produce some of the largest insulating glass units in the country. TPS® provides high elasticity and long unit life which combined with low heat conduction makes this a worldwide leader and one of the most cost effective and efficient products to have been developed for the construction industry.

The manufacture of insulating glass units using TPS® provides improved insulation at the edge seal and a more even temperature distribution over the glass surface which considerably reduces condensation, and reduces heat loss resulting in energy and cost savings.

Kommerling have been chosen to supply a full suite of market leading sealants which are well recognised and trusted for architectural applications.
