Held on the 30th November at the Hilton on London’s Park Lane, the event celebrates innovation in the glazing industry.
The nomination comes as Emplas celebrates its’ 40th Anniversary, also completing a significant programme of investment in its manufacturing facility, in addition to the acquisition of its own IGU business, Padiham Glass.
Ryan Johnson, Managing Director, Emplas, said: “2018 has been a very important year for us. We’ve celebrated our 40th year in business recognizing some key milestones in our journey so far.
“At the same time, we’ve remained focused on the future. This includes a multi-million pound spend on an expansion of our manufacturing facility and new machinery, in addition to the acquisition of Padiham Glass in May which lay the foundations for our future growth.
It’s the second time in the last three-years that Emplas has made the finals having claimed Fabricator of the Year title at G-Awards in 2015. It also scooped the Customer Care Initiative of the Year Award in 2014.
Emplas’ growth has been underpinned by a programme of continuous development. This has included a more than £3.6m spend on its new factory extension and machinery in the last year alone.
Adding around a third again to its manufacturing facility and completed at the end of 2017, the new development houses new lines, loading bays and offices.
A £1.4m spend on machinery last year also saw Emplas add a second Schirmer machining and cutting centre, multiple Rotox welders and saws, bringing its weekly capacity up to 3,200 frames across two shifts.
Its’ acquisition of Padiham Glass in May, gives Emplas increased control of its IGU supply chain at a time of increased uncertainty in glass supply, as well as giving its customers access to cutting-edge innovation in float glass technology from Saint Gobain.
“The key point for me personally is that as continue to invest and to grow, we do so while remaining close to our customers”, added Johnson.
He concluded: “It’s about working in partnership with them, so that we align our product and support offer to their unique requirements, so as to continuously improve our service to them. It’s that relationship with our customers that, is singularly important to us and which still defines us as a family-owned business.”
