Acuity™ low-iron glass by Vitro Architectural Glass was selected as an Editor’s Pick of Building Design + Construction (BD+C) magazine’s 101 Top Products of 2019.

Acuity glass, which is 60% less green than ordinary clear glass, is an affordable low-iron solution specifically engineered for vision glazings. To satisfy the current megatrend for more transparent facades, architects, designers and building owners want exceptionally clear, neutral glazings that can deliver crisper outdoor views—or render color from spandrel units with greater fidelity―than conventional clear glass can at a slight cost premium over clear glass, making it an affordable option for an entire building façade.

Acuity glass can be specified with Solarban® 60, Solarban 72, Solarban 90 and Solarban R100 and Solarban 67 solar control low-emissivity coatings for vision glazings or to enhance the energy performance of commercial buildings. Solarban Acuity glasses are available in 6-, 8- and 10- millimeter thicknesses, and Acuity is also available in 6-millimeter thickness for monolithic spandrel glass applications where true-color rendition is necessary.

When paired in a standard 1-inch insulating glass unit with Solarban glasses, Acuity glass can achieve visible light transmittance (VLT) of up to 73 percent and solar heat gain coefficients (SHGCs) ranging from 0.23 to 0.41.
