Renovation accents include modern glass railings on rooftop deck, atrium stairs & landings.

Workers and visitors to the newly renovated Baker Center in downtown Minneapolis can get a revitalized experience in the highly desirable downtown area thanks to the updated office and conference spaces with innovative amenities, perks and a sleek, modern design featuring hundreds of feet of glamorous glass railings and fixtures.

The facility, located on the corner of Marquette Avenue and South Eighth Street, features a new street-level entrance with a two-story atrium, skyway lobby extension, and a state-of-the-art media wall.

Key to the modern look and feel are the custom railings that outline the lustrous rooftop terrace atop the Roanoke Building and contemporary atrium staircase connecting the first and second floors in the Investors Building.

Designed by RSP Architects, with general contractors JE Dunn Construction and Gardner Builders, the interior stairs, landings and overlooks feature a Track Rail system with stainless steel cladding and ½-inch clear tempered glass with polished exposed edges.

The glass, installed by Brin Contract Glazing and manufactured by OldCastle Building Envelope, wraps around the curved main central staircase in a very tight radius. The custom railings, designed, manufactured and installed by SC Railing Company, are anchored in a rolled Track Rail base shoe system with rolled cladding, creating a seamless, stylish look.

On the rooftop, a panoramic deck is encircled by hundreds of feet of top-mounted Track Rail with stainless steel cladding and ½-inch clear laminated, tempered glass with an SGP interlayer and polished exposed edges.

Attached via a Dry Glaze base shoe system, the rooftop deck railings showcase an aluminum shoe base top-mounted to steel stringers via drill/tap and finished off with Black Gasket.

The new external and internal architecture, features and amenities are designed to launch the complex into the 21st century and bring with it a new generation of working professionals. The new look and feel could not have been achieved without the custom railing systems provided by SC Railing Systems and their contracting partners.
