Vitro Architectural Glass has added a new option, Solarban® 65 glass, to its family of high-performance, solar control, low-e glasses.

A modernization of Vitro’s popular Solarban® 60 glass, Solarban® 65 glass blocks 65% of solar heat energy while allowing 70% of the visible light to pass through in a standard one-inch insulating glass unit (IGU), enabling year-round comfort with heating and cooling cost savings, while maintaining a crisp, clear, color-neutral aesthetic. An additional highlight of Solarban® 65 glass is its 0.29 winter nighttime U-value, which demonstrates the superior insulating characteristics of the glass.

“As the demand for eco-friendly and energy-efficient spaces continues to grow, we’re pleased to offer architects and designers an additional solar control, low-e option to help meet building energy requirements, reduce energy consumption and achieve sustainable design goals,” said Erin Casci, MSVD Coated Products Manager, Vitro Glass.

Available now exclusively through the Vitro Certified® Network, Solarban® 65 glass can be coated on clear glass, Acuity® low-iron glass, Starphire Ultra-Clear® low-iron glass and Sungate ThermL glass by Vitro.

One of Vitro’s newest products, Sungate ThermL glass is a low-e coating engineered for use on the interior surface of a typical one-inch IGU, which reduces heat transfer and dramatically improves U-values when paired with a Solarban® solar control low-e glass by Vitro on the second surface. Pairing Solarban® 65 glass on the second surface with Sungate ThermL glass on the fourth surface enables a U-value of 0.20.
