Şişecam offers environmentally friendly and innovative solutions in line with its "CareforNext" sustainability strategy.

The global player contributes to sustainability with 11 EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certificates covering its entire flat glass product range.

As an environmentally friendly company, Şişecam prioritizes energy and resource efficiency across its entire value chain. Şişecam focuses on monitoring the carbon footprint of its products and further boosting its sustainability performance. Şişecam also contributes to sustainability with 11 internationally valid and verified EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certificates for its entire flat glass product range – including clear float glass, tinted float glass, ultra clear float glass, extra clear float glass, online coated glass, offline coated glass, patterned glass, solar glass, mirror, lacquered glass, and laminated glass.

Şişecam is the first company in Turkish glass industry to issue this declaration, having received the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certificate for its flat glass group in 2018. Şişecam focuses on the life cycle in the value chain with an end-to-end sustainability approach, while also expanding the scope of its efforts to register its sustainable products.

In 2022, Şişecam implemented and published its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)s as part of an initiative with Metsims, one of the industry's leading consulting firms. This effort aimed to register Şişecam's sustainable products and manage sustainability expectations for the company's entire value chain and to provide LCA approach and LCA/EPD literacy training workshop.

Environmental Product Declarations also evaluate production processes and the whole value chain pre- and post-production from an environmental perspective. These declarations provide the opportunity for producers to ensure resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact, boost brand value, and share environmental performance transparently with decision-makers, such as architects and engineers, as well as end consumers. Environmental Product Declarations – critical especially in terms of green building certification and sustainable material use, much like LEED and BREAM – are gaining in importance in parallel with growing awareness about sustainability.

About EPD

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is an independently verified and registered document that shows the environmental impact of a product which can be measured by LCA (Life Cycle Assessment). EPD quantitatively evaluates the environmental performance of a product or service defined in accordance with the ISO 14025 Type-III standard, based on many impact categories under the ISO 14040/44 standard.
