Visitors can learn the latest news and take advantage of tools to aid in meeting ENERGY STAR criteria, which will take effect on January 1, 2015, with the exception of the Northern Zone, which will take effect on January 1, 2016.Through the resource center, window and door manufacturers can access videos, up-to-the-minute announcements, product information and calculator tools to assist them through the complexities of the changes.The Quanex Optimizer™ is one of the tools available, which allows users to calculate the total U-factor of windows and learn the steps to take to meet the new requirements. Other resources include a live Twitter feed from ENERGY STAR with updates, a U.S. map of energy efficiency requirements and a series of upcoming webinars starting in mid-February 2014. Quanex will continue compiling educational tools and release them over the coming months.

ENERGY STAR Version 6.0 will introduce the following criteria to window and door manufacturers:
- ~10% U-factor reduction for the Northern, North-Central and South-Central Zones
- 33% U-factor reduction in the Southern Zone
- Third level of tradeoffs added in the Northern Zone
- Consolidation of North-Central and South-Central Zones
