Policy Measures are Called for Europe's Flat Glass Industry Renaissance

Date: 20 March 2014

Recently, a document titled "Glass for Europe's Industrial Renaissance" was released by Glass for Europe, in which some policy measures are proposed to spark a revolution in Europe's flat glass industry in the next five years.

Glass for Europe is the trade association for Europe's manufacturers of building, automotive and transport glass, all derived from the base material known as flat glass.Float glass, a kind of common flat glass sheet, or flat tempered glass, a kind of safety glass processed by glass tempering machine, belongs to the frequently-used flat glass today.

Flat glass industry plays a key role in European economy 'cause it has always been used in two hot fields, low-energy buildings and fuel efficient cars. While, it is influenced deeply by the on-going global-scale economy recession in recent years. Under this condition, whether or not in ten years high-tech flat glass products will still be manufactured in Europe or imported from outside is the fundamental issue that need to be urgently resolved for EU decision makers.

Some officials in Europe still hold an optimistic attitude towards the future in Europe for independently manufacturing hi-tech glass products, but it needs some concrete policy measures to be implemented. What can't be ignored is that all the policies need to be established on the basis of protecting the environment.

In fact, most flat glass that been widely used in Europe is tempered glass. LandGlass is a hi-tech enterprise specializing in the developing, manufacturing and marketing of glass tempering furnaces. And some of its glass tempering furnaces were exported to Europe for flat tempered glass producing in the past few years. So, the implementation of this policy may have a positive impact on LandGlass' foreign trade.
