Pilkington United Kingdom Limited has been selected as the exclusive supplier of glazing products to Thistle Windows & Conservatories’ new showroom.

Based in Aberdeen, Thistle Windows & Conservatories has been supplying and installing domestic windows and conservatories to customers across North East Scotland for more than 20 years. In 2015, the company was awarded ‘UK Conservatory Installer of the Year’ at the G15 awards.

Each of the styles in the new showroom incorporates products from the Pilkington Activ™ range, the first dual-action self-cleaning glass. The range, which was designed specifically for conservatories and glazed extensions, uses a microscopic coating that first reacts with daylight to break down organic dirt. Then, when rainwater hits the glass, the coating allows the water to spread evenly and run off in a ‘sheet’ – removing any dirt at the same time.

Pilkington Activ™ products can also be combined with other Pilkington products to achieve added benefits, such as thermal insulation, and solar control.

Andy Cadman, trade director at Thistle Windows & Conservatories, said: “We’ve worked with Pilkington for almost a decade and have consistently been impressed with the quality of its glass, so it was the natural choice when it came to selecting a supplier for our new showroom.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with the Pilkington team moving forward as we continue to provide our customers with high-performance, attractive conservatories and other glazed extensions.”

Blair McDonald, account manager at Pilkington, added: “Thistle has built a strong reputation as a high-end supplier of windows and conservatories across Aberdeenshire and North East Scotland.

“This latest venture is testament to the quality of our service and the strength of our product offering. We are seeing growing demand for conservatories among consumers, and products like Pilkington Activ™ help cater to modern life by helping homeowners keep their conservatories clean all year round.”
