Lakesmere set to make waves at Tidal Basin Road

Date: 17 February 2015

Leading building envelope and major façade specialist the Lakesmere Group has secured a new £13.3m appointment from main contractor Carillion to deliver a striking vertical envelope package for two new high-rise residential tower blocks in the Royal Victoria Docks area of London.

The contract for Hoola, the landmark new residential development on Tidal Basin Road which comprises two 23 and 24 storey towers, will be delivered by McMullen Facades, part of the Lakesmere Group. The McMullen team will be responsible for the design and installation of an extensive vertical façade package that includes pre-fabricated curtain walling, sliding door sets, sun-shading screens and feature curved glazed balustrading, the design of which creates a rippled ‘wave’ effect to reflect the development’s prime location near the River Thames and the docks. The team will be on site from May 2015.

Utilising the many benefits of off-site construction and drawing on McMullen’s manufacturing expertise, at pre-tender stage the team has worked closely with Carillion and the developer HUB Residential to develop a bespoke façade system design that will provide a fast track installation solution and enable follow-on trades to commence their packages much earlier than usual.

Located in one of London’s prime areas for regeneration, the new Hoola development will create 360 new residential apartments that will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across the City, with sights including the 02 Arena, River Thames and Canary Wharf.

No stranger to delivering high-rise residential contracts, the Lakesmere Group has worked on a number of London’s major residential developments in London including Battersea Reach and Tribeca Square.
