In the fully booked up Exhibition Centre Nuremberg, a total of 1,278 exhibitors from 36 countries present the latest trends for the wood crafts and for windows, doors and facades. Live demonstrations, special shows, Planing Championship and more promise a unique exhibition experience for wood and window experts. Over 100,000 international trade visitors are expected.

Every two years, the exhibition duo in Nürnberg sets the standards for future work in the sectors concerned. The professional audience can eagerly look forward to a top-quality programme with many innovative products and services again this year.

fensterbau/frontale 2012: focus on energy efficiency and design

With 780 exhibitors, fensterbau/frontale 2012 underlines its status as world-leading trade fair for windows, doors and facades, the associated technologies, components and prefabricated units, and the relevant range of machinery and services. “Energy efficiency remains a key theme at fensterbau/frontale, because, for example, the EU is demanding an energy label for windows and the European Energy Efficiency Directive will make zero energy houses mandatory for new buildings with effect from 2020. The window sector can make a big contribution here, as the product spectrum at the exhibition clearly shows,” explains Elke Harreiß, Exhibition Manager of fensterbau/frontale at NürnbergMesse.

The supporting programme with detailed information and practical tips will also get visitors fit in energy efficiency terms. The programme starts on 21 March with the conference on “Climate Protection with New Windows” organized by the European trade association EuroWindoor. On the following three days of the exhibition (22, 23 and 24 March 2012, daily at 10.30 a.m.), experts from the Bern University of Applied Sciences and Holzforschung Austria (Wood Research Institute) provide information on the latest research findings concerning developments in the window and facade market. The Real Estate Conference (Saturday, 24 March 2012) offers energy consultants and property operators tips on energy-efficient renovation. The Energy Plus special show organized on all days of the exhibition by NürnbergMesse, ift Rosenheim and the Fachverband Glas, Fenster, Fassade Baden-Württemberg (GFF – Glass, Window and Facade Association) in cooperation with manufacturers has been a well-known and popular gathering for years.

Design also plays a key role at fensterbau/frontale 2012, as appearance and functionality particularly contribute to feeling at home in a house. Input for the future-orientated work of architects and building planners is provided by the Forum Architecture–Windows–Facades, the Architects’ Area and the Innovation Award+.

HOLZ-HANDWERK 2012: sawing, drilling, milling and more

The fully booked 16th European Trade Fair for Machine Technology, Equipment and Supplies for the Wood Crafts is positioned as an important information forum and source of inspiration for carpenters and joiners in Central Europe. “498 exhibitors present new products for optimum and cost-effective processing of solid wood and wood-based materials – from portable machines for small workshops and full-size static machines to special tools and hardware. All the big names in the tools or machinery segment are present in Nürnberg,” says Stefan Dittrich, Exhibition Manager of HOLZ-HANDWERK, which is organized together with VDMA Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen (Woodworking Machinery Sector in VDMA).

Whether sawing, drilling or milling – the supporting programme for HOLZ-HANDWERK really gets down to work with live demonstrations in the Mitte (central) entrance area. There’s also lots of activity on the stand of the Fachverband Schreinerhandwerk Bayern (Bavarian Carpentry Association), where the Bavarian-wide final of the TSD Cup takes place on 24 March. The competition is part of a nationwide recruitment campaign to get young people interested in the carpenter’s trade. The Planing Championship also promises to be exciting, when it comes to finding the person who manages to plane off the thinnest shavings. Hände-Werk e.V. organizes open competitions on 21 and 22 March, which will determine the winners each day. Any visitor can enter for the competition spontaneously on the association’s stand until 4 p.m. The German Championship will be organized on Friday and Saturday. The established special show “Dreams of Wood” also provides inspiration with lovingly designed wooden toys and decorative and artistic objects of wood.

For those who don’t manage to see everything in the hustle and bustle of the exhibition or would like to review their impressions of the event again, there is the new video portal www.holz-handwerk.tv. Here features, product demonstrations and interviews from the exhibition halls provide information on many topics and are also available after the end of the event. There will be live broadcasts from the exhibition studio at the Mitte (central) entrance during the opening times of the exhibition.
