Groot Group and Partners to Develop Africa’s Largest Glass Manufacturing Plant in Tses, Namibia

Groot Group, SDS Group, Nissi, and the Tses Community are joining forces on an equal shareholding value to form a joint venture, namely; Tses Glass (Pty) Ltd, for the development of the Tses Glass Manufacturing Plant (Tses Glass) in Tses, Southern Namibia.

Tses Glass is expected to become the largest dynamic glass manufacturing factory in Africa focused on producing industry leading glass products with the type of float glass, hollow glass, glass wool and fiber, cast glass, and ultrathin glass for the construction of residential and commercial buildings as well as for automobiles, kitchenware, bottles, touch screen computing, and smart phones devices for the markets around the world.Siemens AG, the Germany based global powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering, operating in the industry, energy and healthcare sectors, is to provide and supply the needed glass making technology, equipment, and processes for the successful and efficiently development and manufacturing operation flow of the Tses Glass Manufacturing Plant.Tses Glass seeks to partner with some of the world’s largest glass manufacturing equipment makers, technology providers, and suppliers for its planned dynamic glass manufacturing plant, which aims to help rapidly transform the local and regional economy of the Tses community by making it one of the fastest growing local economies in Southern Namibia.Budgeted at more than US$5 billion (N$41 billion) for its development and construction, Tses Glass expects to create more than 8,000 of new direct manufacturing jobs in Tses and more than 40,000 of new indirect jobs throughout Namibia."Similar to our steel mill in Otavi, this glass manufacturing plant is also an ecosystem by itself; an interlink connected industrial project, as more and more suppliers, providers and developers are expected to flock to the Tses area to setup new businesses to provide services and housing development for the Tses Glass workers." Groot Group is partnering with some of the world’s largest companies, providers, and investment powerhouses as well as local entrepreneurs with the Local and Central Government of Namibia for the development of the Groot Rapid Industrial Ecosystem in Namibia with more than 60 different planned industrial projects which includes Groot (an industrial hub), Sitentu Power Plant (a 900 MW CCGT Power Plant), Otavi Steel, Wire and Cable Plant, Engineering College, Medical Center, International Airport, and more related industrial projects that would enable a creation of more than 500,000 new direct and indirect better paying and sustainable job opportunities in Namibia within 5 years.
