Green Ridge Primary Academy Case Study | Hazlemere Commercial

Green Ridge Primary Academy is set on the Berryfields Estate, north of Aylesbury in Bucks. The academy is located on a new housing development, and is the second primary school to be built within it’s vicinity to meet the demand for school places. 

The academy is initially a two-form entry school with capacity for 60 children in each year group, although planning has been granted for a three-form entry (90 places per year group) as demand grows. The building and site has been designed and laid out with a three-form entry school in mind for future proofing.

The academy opened in September 2017 in a purpose-built, temporary building located on the actual school site. To start with Green Ridge had just two Reception classrooms with a capacity of up to 60 children, and a single class of Year One (up to 30 children) and Year Two (up to 30 children).

When Green Ridge moved to its permanent building in September 2018 (the superstructure and interiors built by Kier), it opened its Nursery and pre-school, (Little Ridges) as well as an additional 60 children for the Reception intake. Main contractors Kier awarded the contract to manufacture and install all the aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling on this new build project to Hazlemere Commercial.

The products ordered by Kier from Hazlemere Commercial in 2017 were Sapa Elegance 52ST powder coated RAL 7016 Matt Anthracite Grey aluminium double glazed curtain walling with match Sapa DF75 Si aluminium commercial window inserts and Sapa STII automated commercial aluminium entrance doors.

Hazlemere also supplied and fitted multi-coloured feature aluminium pressings in RAL 6018 Lime, RAL 6023 Copper, RAL 6017 Green and RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey. Effective completion took place prior to the move to the new permanent buildings in September 2018.
