Glassolutions launches free Planitherm DVD

Date: 10 August 2012

Sealed unit manufacturers Chipping Norton Glass, Midland Glass, Morley Glass & Glazing, Quickseal and Southworth Windows are the stars of a new DVD from GLASSOLUTIONS Solaglas, which has already attracted more than 100 views on YouTube in a short space of time.

The DVD demonstrates how easy it is to process and handle SGG PLANITHERM glass – and highlights the business benefits of using the best family of soft coat glasses on the market.Ian Short, managing director of Morley Glass & Glazing says: “Converting the factory was seamless and within a week of using SGG PLANITHERM we were staggered at how easy it was to process, handle and manufacture the units.”Eddie Howell, managing director of Quickseal UK says: “In commercial work we use SGG PLANITHERM because it gives a low U value, greater light transmission, greater clarity and is easier to work with.”Mike Butterick, Marketing Director at GLASSOLUTIONS, says: “As a distributor and processor of the product for well over a decade, we wanted to share our expertise and the experiences of some of our customers with other sealed unit manufacturing customers, so that they too could start processing SGG PLANITHERM so their customers can benefit from selling windows using the most energy efficient family of glasses available today.“It is essential that the annealed version of the glass is edge-deleted before assembly into double-glazed units to prevent oxidation of the coating edge, but also to ensure secondary seal bond strength.“The industry recognises now that edge-deletion is actually a very simple, quick but necessary process that doesn’t require complex machinery or extra labour, and this DVD demonstrates it perfectly.”From handheld tools to fully automated cutting tables there’s a method of edge-deletion for everyone, regardless of the size of business. And the process is the same regardless of which SGG PLANITHERM product is used:

SGG PLANITHERM® TOTAL+ is a high performance thermally insulating (low-E) glass that has been optimised to help domestic windows achieve the highest Window Energy Ratings (WERs).

• SGG PLANITHERM® ONE offers excellent thermal insulation properties in combination with high neutrality. It is an ideal solution for both commercial applications (refurbishment and new build) and domestic new build applications.

SGG PLANITHERM® 4S is for use in conservatories. It has both high performance low-e properties and solar control. Use of SGG PLANITHERM 4S throughout a conservatory maximises the chances of being cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

SGG PLANITHERM® ULTRA N is a high performance thermally insulating (low-E) glass that offers both low U-values coupled with unrivalled neutrality and is positioned optimally for commercial applications.

Glassolutions Solaglas offers its manufacturing customers comprehensive technical, operational and marketing support – including access to the Planitherm Installer Network – as part of its Planitherm Advantage program.
