The primary focus of the presentations is achieving optimal/green building design by improving energy efficiency, long-term durability and waste reduction.
1/29/2009 9:00AM - 12:30PM
Edgetech Structural Silicone Spacers: Exceeding Expectations for Insulating Glass will shed light on insulating glass history with a focus on silicone foam spacers and their significance to energy efficiency and sustainability of the glass facade. The presentation will also discuss the latest advances in insulating glass production systems that increase process efficiencies and reduce waste while maintaining the highest quality standards for insulating glass units. Case studies including LEED certified projects will be discussed.
Dow Corning Construction Industry: Achieving Sustainable Façades in a Hot Climate will provide a thermal modeling study for the Dubai climate comparing the U-Value and energy consumption of typical curtain wall glazing systems used in commercial buildings. The primary glazing components under consideration are glass, glazing systems (gasket/mechanically fixed versus structurally glazed and spacer design. The glazing systems compared are those most used in major cities around the world today. The thermal modeling results of the most energy-efficient glazing design will be presented and discussed.
