ABOUT AIS GLASS DESIGN OLYMPIAD
PROJECT BRIEF
We invite design ideas that celebrate the versatility of Glass as a green building material! Here is a step-by-step guide to this design problem! Keep in mind, that every step is a choice and through the steps you must always consider the sustainability quotient - whether it is social, economic, or environmental in nature.
STEP 1: What’s the structure?
Pick a structure of your choice. It could be a building (residential building/villa/ commercial /social amenity development), modern monument, or even urban infrastructure development (skywalk, bridges, etc.). You may also select your existing architectural design portfolio already worked upon for semester course work and rework / rethink on it, integrating use of glass as an innovative building material solution. Identify what the design signifies and what value addition the selection of glass as a building material did to your design.
STEP 2: Understand and define the design
Once you have identified the structure of your choice – understand and explain it inside out! Define the various spaces and elements critical to your design.
Devise a foolproof, sensitive, and sustainable design output.
STEP 3: Create your design
Site & Area Programme: This will obviously be dictated by the design your choice. Please note that there are no restrictions on minimum and maximum area for the site chosen by you. However, be judicious in choosing your scale and scope of work – the efficacy of your design solution may carry more importance than the scale of your project.
