Valmiera Glass UK Ltd. architectural membrane Atex® is being used in a construction of a stadium for the first time

JSC “Valmieras stikla šķiedra” subsidiary company Valmiera Glass UK Ltd. is attracted to an ambitious project – the construction of the BJK Vodafone stadium in Turkey, Stambul.

Currently a contract is concluded with the construction company IZ Insaat ve Madencilik Sanayı ve Ticaret AŞ for Atex® 5000 TRL architectural membrane’s supply and the use within the construction of the new BJK Vodafone arena in 26 000 square meter area.It’s planned to deliver the material in April 2015.

The vice-president of JSC “Valmieras stikla šķiedra” Andre Heinz Schwiontek: “I am really proud, that our subsidiary company’s Valmiera Glass UK Ltd. manufactured products will be used for the first time extensively in a socially significant building – in a stadium’s roof covering. It’s clearly a great achievement, which approves our company’s products conformity nowadays modern world’s demands.”


In the construction of the new stadium will be used Valmiera Glass UK Ltd. produced Atex® architectural membrane in an area of 26 000 square meters. Atex® materials one of the greatest advantage is the high light transmittance, which is also one of the essential precondition by choosing this product, because the intention to illuminate the stadium in various colours, highlighting the external image.

With this large-scale project Valmiera Glass Group continues to strengthen its positions in architectural world. Atex® membranes are being applied in leading global architectural companies, recognizing this glass fibre products high quality.

BJK Vodafone stadium is being built for the Beşiktaş J.K. football team instead of last base location in İnön, which was closed in 2013. The old stadium wasn’t demolished completely, since tribunes and towers there are cultural and historical monuments. It’s planned to adjust them to create amphitheatre atmosphere. The new arena will be a multifunctional sport facility with 41 903 seats, restaurants in 2 123 square meter area, terraced restaurants in 2 520 square meters and with a VIP parking lot for 6000 vehicles.
