And indeed, ‘boat building’ is what the architecture has since been called.Designed by the world-renowned architect – Hafeez Contractor, Infosys at Trivandrum is sprawled across a 50-acre campus encompassing 1.5 million sq.ft. The glass facade is a glittering example of innovation in architecture, combining the use of green building products and solar reflective glass.

The high performance and advanced solar control glass from Saint-Gobain Glass, ‘SGG Envision’ has extensively been used in the Infosys building. Envision brings with it, a potent combination of Low-Emissivity and Thermal Insulation properties, making it the ideal choice for green building architecture. Low-E coatings on glass, control heat transfer, resulting in lowering the U-factor and reducing energy loss by as much as 50%.

SGG Envision is manufactured with a special coating that gives the glass its solar control and thermal insulation features. Envision also has superior levels of transparency when compared with other solar control glasses. It is designed to give a spectrally selective solar control performance, capable of filtering up to 70% of the heat normally transmitted, while allowing complete light transmission.

Much of SGG Envision’s popularity also comes from the fact that it is a highly versatile glass. Its wide-ranging applications include structural glazing, facade glazing, bolted systems, curtain walling, fenestration applications, insulated glazing units, laminated double glazed units, laminated, heat treated and bent glazing units. Its high degrees of Spectral Selectivity (Light:Heat Ratio) and Thermal Insulation, coupled with low levels of reflection and heat transfer are other added advantages.

SGG Envision is available in six variants; the Green-shaded SGG Envision Future (SKN 444)is the version used in the Infosys building. A low-E glass, SGG Envision has all the benefits of a solar control glass with thermal insulation, making Infosys truly one of the best places to work with!
