We had a lot of collaboration and discussions take place there, and heard from a slate of regionally-specific speakers. In this edition of the Western Region e-News you can see some coverage of the information given. In case you missed the Summit, presentations are available for you to view in the Members Only section of the AAMA website.
The speakers at the Western Region Summer Summit included the following:
Dave Deress (Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates) presented “Product Considerations for Today’s New Cladding Assemblies; It’s Not the Same Old Rough Opening Anymore” and Jon Heller (Ecotope) covered High Performance Buildings. Stéphane Hoffman from Morrison Hershfield talked about the energy code implication of spandrel design and Ric Jackson (Quanex Building Products) gave a helpful update on ENERGY STAR®. Stephen Selkowitz (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory) told attendees what research and development is taking place at UC Berkeley Energy and Danny Sullivan (View | Dynamic Glass) presented “The Future of Intelligent Buildings; Responsive Dynamic Glass Facades.”
A forum on water penetration resistance testing also took place, as facilitated by Dave Deress and Stéphane Hoffman. Attendees were invited to bring their questions and concerns surrounding onsite testing procedures (full pressure versus two-thirds reduction) to the live discussion.
Our goal at Western Region AAMA has been to address relevant issues regarding the fenestration industry in the Western U.S. Hopefully, the information and discussions with our speakers helped to inform you of the issues and at the very least touched on some of the possible solutions for both residential and commercial fenestration.
I hope you enjoyed the Summit, and that you are enjoying your summer.
