Obama ‘inaugurates´ glass roof Gemeentemuseum

Barack Obama and Mark Rutte addressed the world press in the refurbished courtyard of the Gemeentemuseum.  Octatube is very proud of being fully responsible for the realization of the glass roof and the renewed interior space, on time and within budget.   Although the world summit was not the motivation to design and build the glass roof, the strict deadline has worked as a catalyst.On behalf of the Gemeentemuseum, Octatube has developed and realised the glass roof in a very tight schedule and within budget.

Together with architect Job Roos the existing building and legacy of Berlage has always been the starting point. At the same time, state of the art techniques have been used in the field of all-glass structures and glass fins.

The multi-functional interior space will become part of the Gemeentemuseum in the coming months, but also the city of The Hague has gained an elegant town square.
