A range of products supplied by leading fenestration design and manufacturer Senior Architectural Systems and installed by CS Aluminium Windows Ltd has helped to give a healthy new look to a purpose built Primary Care Resource Centre in Buckley, north-east Wales.

Designed by architects Austin Smith Lord, a focal point of the new medical centre is the large atrium waiting room and reception area. Here, Senior’s SCW+ aluminium curtain walling system has been used to create a welcoming entrance for patients by providing copious amounts of natural light and stunning views across the common. The new centre has also benefitted from the use of two of Senior’s robust aluminium door solutions which are ideally suited for use in high traffic commercial environments. In addition to the use of the thermally efficient aluminium SPW 600/e window system, Senior’s thermally broken polyamide SPW 501 commercial door system has been specified for the centre’s automatic doors and emergency exits.

As well as providing a high performance and cost effective solution for main contractor Par Homes Limited, the specification of Senior’s innovative portfolio of products have helped contribute to the new facility achieving a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’.

The new medical centre, which houses two GP practices and a self-contained pharmacy unit, has been built on the site of the former Ysgol Belmont Special School and has been developed by the Healthcare Property Company (Wales) to provide a modern healthcare facility for the local Buckley community.

The successful delivery of the scheme has helped strengthen Senior’s established 20-year relationship with Flintshire based aluminium fabricator and installer CS Aluminium Windows who has recently become the first company to use Senior’s innovative new PURe window system on a new residential contract. Sharon Edwards from CS Aluminium Windows said: “Over the past three years we have undergone a period of expansion and investment and we wanted to use the new medical centre in our home town to showcase our capabilities. With the help of Senior Architectural Systems we have been able to achieve a cost effective high performance fenestration solution for this project by integrating different systems from within Senior’s product range.”
