High-Profile Appointment to Drive Beatson Clark Growth

Date: 1 July 2015

Glass industry professional Chris Palmer has joined Beatson Clark to drive growth as the company’s Business Development Manager.

Chris (36) has worked in UK glass manufacturing for 17 years in both production and account management roles, more recently in the premium spirits sector, and he hopes to make a real difference in his new position.“I’m passionate about the glass industry and I’m really looking forward to developing long-term relationships with both new and existing customers,” he said.“Glass is what I enjoy and what I know – I love the process, the material and the products you can create out of glass. It’s 100% recyclable and it’s really got that premium feel.

Chris will concentrate on new business in the north of the UK, particularly the craft brewery sector which is a growth market for Beatson Clark at present.

“Real ale and craft beer is a booming industry and these niche breweries are looking for premium glass packaging at low volumes that can help their products stand out from their competitors,” said Chris.

“With our in-house design team and our state-of-the-art embossing techniques this is an area where we can really add value. In addition, our decoration options such as screen printing give a superior finish.

“I’m becoming heavily involved in the brewing industry and I attend a lot of SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) and CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) events too.

“And when our new amber furnace comes on line in November this year we will have additional capacity on the beer and beverage side to help us meet demand in this growing sector.”
