Guardian Auto Glass acquires Atlanta-based Automobile Glass Company

Date: 7 January 2011

Worthington, Ohio – January 4, 2011 -- Guardian Auto Glass, LLC announced today the acquisition of the assets of Automobile Glass Company of Alpharetta, GA.

Automobile Glass has served Atlanta area customers since 1933 and was one of the first mobile auto glass companies in Atlanta.  The company was sold to Harmon Auto Glass in 1991 and started again as Automobile Glass in 2008.

The new company will operate as Guardian Auto Glass Atlanta, LLC and will continue the development of Guardian Auto Glass’ entrepreneurial business model. “With the launch of the Atlanta location, Guardian Auto Glass continues with its core principles that we will have locally owned and managed operations as the core of our future growth,” said Marc Talbert, vice president of Guardian Auto Glass.

Local owners/managers Mickey Eves and Peter Hicks will serve as vice presidents and managing partners of the new company.  Both have extensive experience in Atlanta retail auto glass.  Mr. Eves started with the original Automobile Glass in 1963 and led the sales growth of that company and others.   Mr. Hicks has worked as a qualified technician and store manager and will lead the operations of Guardian Auto Glass Atlanta. Guardian Auto Glass will be the majority owner of the new company.

Guardian Auto Glass was formed in October 2010 between Guardian Glass Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Guardian Industries, and LRST, LLC to manage and grow the retail auto glass business of Guardian.

Guardian Auto Glass is seeking individuals who are interested in pursuing opportunities as partners in growing local automotive glass businesses. All inquiries will be treated confidentially and should be directed to LRST@Guardian.com.
