The American Architectural Manufacturers Association recently released an updated document establishing performance requirements for fiber reinforced thermoset profiles for use in fenestration products.

AAMA 305-18, the Voluntary Specification for Fiber Reinforced Thermoset Profiles, was last updated in 2015.

“In section 1.2 in the scope, we have added an additional performance level for high modulus fiber reinforced thermoset technologies, which are being used for larger fenestration applications which require higher strength requirements,” said Robert P. Plagemann (Tecton Products), Chair of the AAMA Fiberglass Material Council (FMC) 305 Fiberglass Profiles Specification Review Task Group.

In addition to performance requirements, the document also references test procedures and requirements for standard weathering performance of fiber reinforced thermoset profiles. Finally, it addresses requirements covering design criteria, finish and appearance, weathering performance and physical properties.

AAMA 305-18, as well as other AAMA documents, may be purchased from AAMA’s online store. More information about AAMA and its activities can be found on the AAMA website, aamanet.org.
